TORALDO | ESTAR

Wind-Spirited Instructor
█████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████
■ Human ■ 20-25 ■ Magister
█████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████

...At First Glance
Young and rather informal, it's hard to believe that Toraldo is a master instructor at a prestigious school for magic. Toraldo is easily distinguished among his peers by his tall, skinny frame, and short but unkempt brown hair. Though there is no strict uniform at the school, his chosen outfit is not something that the staff are too thrilled about. Toraldo often wears an open long coat over a tunic, both a shade of mild emerald green, complete with a leather handband and gloves. His earth-tone trousers he wears tucked into his leather boots.

...Skin Deep
Toraldo is an easily excitable person with few worries. No matter how much he's scolded by fellow instructors on his lax attitude towards studying and protocol, he always bounces back without a care in the world. Although he usually tries to make it appear that he's working to improve, at least for a little while. He lacks focus but bursts with determination. If he can't solve a problem the traditional way, he'll find some sort of shortcut solution. Not only that, but he'll be sure to look impressive while doing it, all the while hoping that his scheme doesn't backfire.

...All Work And All Play
In his school, only 9 of the most gifted mages are permitted to study the arts of the High Arcana, known as master instructors. Toraldo is the master instructor of wind magic, recognized among his peers to be the show the most potential and technique in handling the forces of the air. But his grasp on the title is rather tenous and circumstantial.

Although Toraldo possesses a large amount of magical strength, he lacks the ability to properly focus and control this energy, resulting in wildly unpredictable results. At his side, however, he carries with him a relic from another age, a crossbow-shaped apparatus known as Arjuna, the Wind Bow. The device enables him to pour his power into it, coverting chaotic energy into focused bolts of wind. Using this system, he can easily perform long distance attacks without the need to properly channel his magic. Over time, he has found other uses for it as well. While the relic is useful for concentrating his ability, it does little to help Toraldo grow as an instructor.

He loves going off to explore the dangerous outskirts of the central country. And with his incredible long range skills using Arjuna, his fellow master instructors have a hard time refusing to bring him along on two or three-man expeditions. These trips allow him further opportunities to impress others, or at least he thinks so. But what his peers most want to see is Toraldo perform well without the use of his relic, which has become a crutch to his learning.

... Everything In Between
Reluctantly, he is tasked with studying to become a true mage, one that is capable to focusing his magic using his own control and technique, not that of a supplemental artifact. If he cannot gain control of his powers before another wind mage of his caliber is discovered, he will effectively lose his position. Between bouts of showing off and volunteering to go off on expeditions , Toraldo struggles to keep up on his studies and practices. He is a slow learner, and has a hard time resisting the benefits of utilizing Arjuna. But as impatient and impulsive as he is, Toraldo deeply wants to become a mage that his peers can truly respect.

Poor Toraldo... If only there was a way to get the bow to help him learn more lol.

I love mages that are either struggling with their powers or using them in a way that doesn't help them in the future. This character is very unique... an instructor that spends more time using a bow for a clutch and trying to show off... lol I can only imagine what would happen if he gets an apprentice and they end up exceeding him after the first year of training.

 Oh the irony.
